The Go Greener Standards for Events group is part of the City of West Lafayette Go Greener Commission initiative to increase awareness of environmental issues related to events in the area. This site has information for people wishing to know more about greener events. We help with green events in the Tippecanoe county area in Indiana.

Thank you! Tipmont REMC has awarded us a grant for our efforts in sustainability of events in the area!

Getting certified helps YOU.
  • Go Greener provides volunteers and bins to facilitate recycling. Contact us for more information.
  •  The public prefers to attend events which are green certified.
  • We will provide positive publicity prior to your event via: announcements on our website, public radio, television announcements and/or word of mouth.
  • Actions that improve the green-ness of your event can actually cut costs, and do NOT increase costs.
What are the Standards?

It is easy to follow the green event standards and become a Go Greener Certified Event. The standards include recycling, compostable materials, and increasing awareness of alternative greener transportation choices. Download the full standards guide for details.

Why get involved?

There is a growing public concern for the environment, which calls for action by event planners to reduce their negative environmental impact. The Go Greener Commission of West Lafayette’s green certification program for events is an integral part of this process. Go Greener Certification is a respected seal of approval from the city government that shows the public the event planner’s commitment to the environment.

A few simple changes can make a big positive impact on the environment. Not doing these things may have a negative impact on your event as attendees now expect events which are sustainable and socially responsible. Go Greener is proud to provide advice and volunteers to help make your Go Greener Certified event a success. As fuel and other costs continue to rise, a Go Green Certified event will also be more efficient and economically viable.
